
JAKARTA – The YouTube video sharing platform has features that can help its users not to stay up late at night. This new feature is named ‘bedtime reminders‘which reminds users to take a break when watching video content on YouTube.
Reporting from Tech RadarThis Youtube-style preventive feature is a continuation of the feature wellness and screen time which has been around since 2018. This feature embedding is also part of the Google Digital Wellbeing initiative.

“You set the start and end times in your Settings, including whether you want the notification to interrupt the video or wait for the video to finish,” Google said in a blog post, Friday, May 29.
In fact, the presence of this feature aims to help users reduce the duration of watching videos. YouTube realizes that this problem has increased since the surge in the use of both cellphones and computers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

For technicalities, features bedtime reminders can be set to interrupt the video show that is being watched at a certain time. Not only that, this feature can also be checked (dismiss) or postponed (snooze) after the reminder notification on Youtube has beensetting.

YouTube says this feature is available on the Android and iOS applications. Launching the official Google blog, here’s how to activate the Bedtime Reminder Youtube feature:
-Sign in (Sign In) to the Youtube account.
-Open Settings (Settings).
-Click the ‘Remind Me At Bedtime’ section (Remind Me When It’s Time for Bed).
-Determine the expansion start time (start) and ends (end) for a reminder.
-Choose ‘Wait until I finish the video to bring up a reminder’ (Wait until I Finish My Video to Show Reminder) if you want a reminder notification to appear after the video you are watching is complete.
